Artists Statement - 1st Annual Invitational - July 21 - September 5, 2007
As a mechanical engineer with the Merchant Fleet of the Soviet Union, my life was very different before I came to America.
Although in my school years I was an art major, my life did not allow me the time or the energy to be an artist. I was an atheist then, but eleven years ago my life changed when I found Christianity. From that moment on, I began to paint once again.
I left the merchant fleet when I got married and began to paint full time and after a while I was fortunate enough to be able to make a living with my art. Since I came to America in 2000, I have been painting, but it was only in the last two years that I have been able to paint full time.
Whether it is from other artists or from my own experience painting, I am proud to say that I learn something every time I pick up a brush. This collection embodies my new home here in America and I am proud to be able to show my work in Southern California.
Oleg currently resides in Vancouver, Washington with his wife Victoria, and his three children: Daniel, 9, Darya 6 and Olga 5 months.
