I was born in Sacramento in 1955 and moved to Palm Springs in 1967. Some years later I discovered true love... painting outdoors in oil. Ken Auster, the great Laguna painter gave me my first instruction in painting “en plein aire.” I have also worked with Daniel Gerharts, Jeremy Lipking, Mark Kerchkhoff and Matt Smith and I’ve learned a great deal from my fellow California painters.
I am an artist member of the California Art Club a well as a member of the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association.
As for my philosophy on painting...I just look for things that catch my eye and then do my best to render them in an honest, painterly way. I tell my friends I am “the painter of whatever.” Everything is fair game and that is the way I like it.
I hope you enjoy my work.
