He is completely involved in art as an innovative watercolor and acrylic painter, collagist, teacher, author, and juror. He has written 23 books for high school and college art classes, on a wide range of subjects. He has also edited many high school, college texts, and teacher resource books.

He has won awards in most national competitive watercolor shows and has had over 160 one-man shows from Alaska to Florida, and from Bermuda to Hong Kong and Taiwan.

After 26 years of teaching high school art, he continues his teaching activities by leading workshops in all parts of this country and overseas. He is a Life Member and Past President of the National Watercolor Society, Honorary President of the National Association of Painters in Acrylics, and many other national art organizations.

Gerald Brommer used to teach 20 or more workshops every year in the United States, Europe, Mexico, Canada, and Middle and South America. He has also completed filming 14 videos, of which 10 are produced for use in art education classes and 4 for practicing artists.

His work is regularly shown in nine galleries in California, New Mexico, Florida, Bermuda and London, England.
