Painting is how I explore my relation to nature and life. Sometimes my exploration is an inspired and spiritual undertaking; other times it is an internal struggle wrought with technical difficulties. Either way, there is an underlying drive to create more. In the end I seek to capture in each piece the essence of what I envision. My hope is that my art will also enrich the lives of those who view it.

Much of my identity as a person and as an artist comes from my love of animals, horses in particular. Having worked for years as a horse trainer, I continue to refine my horsemanship skills. Similarly, as an artist of many years, I push forward to find ways to express the subtleties of light and color in relation to form and atmosphere. I am quite captivated by the process.

While a large portion of my work depicts my domestic environment and the animals that surround my life, I also love to travel. Annual painting trips to Dubois, Wyoming for over the last decade have nourished my love for the West. Likewise, several international trips, including a couple to Africa-where there's all kinds of animals and to Israel where things are ancient and sacred, and now most recently, to India where my own limits of humanity were tested; provide a rich base of resource material . A zealous curiosity about the world combined with the drive to process my experiences through art makes for an interesting life.
